Relationship Concerns (romantic, familial, platonic), Life Transitions, Career/Work, Questions & Conflicts, Cultural Identity and Navigation
I’ve always been fascinated by relationships and what makes one successful, be it romantic, familial, or platonic. Growing up in a large biracial household, I was invited to explore and pose questions about values, cultural differences, and belonging at an early age.
I’ve been told my therapeutic style is compassionate, emotion and solution-focused, and kindly direct. I strive to meet you where you are in terms of your therapeutic goals and personal process of change.
Outside of my work you might find me investing in my own relationships, cooking for a dinner party, or fly fishing on the Grand River.
I believe clients are the experts of their lives and experiences. In individual work with clients, my goal is to help you explore and process the ways you feel stuck in your life and far away from your goals. I believe clients do their best work when therapy is a safe and thoughtful space. With this in mind, I strive to create an environment where you can imagine differences in your relationships, with yourself and others. My work is informed by Narrative, Dialogic, Solution-Focused, and Emotionally-Focused modalities.
I am often motivated to explore how small and significant changes can lead to meaningful and lasting change. This means I often invite clients to consider how their values and motivations are impacting the ways they show up for themselves, and together we work to envision and explore what something new could look like.
In my work as a relationship/family therapist, my hope is to help create change and difference in my client’s lives. I believe we all hold stories about our lives are no longer serving us and hard to let go of. I hope to help clients discover these narratives and choose the path that allows for a different kind of relationship with their partners, family, friends, and loved ones.
I often work with clients who feel stuck in their relationships. Perhaps it’s a pattern of conflict you wish to approach differently, a topic with your loved one that you struggle to get perspective on, or a new challenge in the relationship you need help exploring thoughtfully.
My therapeutic approach is largely collaborative and led by curiosity about your life and how you see the world. I strive to create a space where we can explore areas where you feel stuck and acknowledge recurring themes and patterns, in order to understand behaviors and identify ways to create meaningful change in your relationships.
