Hello, I’m Vanessa (she/her) and I am an Indigenous Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I identify as a mixed Anishinaabe counsellor and community helper, with Ojibwe, Scottish and French ancestry. I am a member of Sagamok Anishnawbek and grew up disconnected from my community, I have used my educational and personal journey as a method to explore and reclaim my culture and identity.
As an Indigenous person, I believe in tending to our well-being in a holistic nature, and that means nourishing our body, mind and spirit. I believe in the power of community, connection and meaningful relationships as a pathway to healing and growth.
I have spent the last 5 years or so, working as a Child and Youth Counsellor supporting in the emotional and social growth of young people within a school-based setting.
A fun fact about me, I love being active and outdoors. I have a school bus converted into a camper that I love to spend time in near the water.
Hello, I’m Vanessa (she/her) and I’m an Indigenous Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) dedicated to providing you with a safe, respectful, and judgement-free space to show up as yourself. Reaching out for support takes strength and courage, and I want to recognize and celebrate your efforts.
My goal is to foster a comfortable and collaborative space. This will enable us to identify your strengths and provide you with guidance, support, and coping skills to produce positive change in your everyday life. In my work, I encourage inclusivity, trust, choice, and empowerment through a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive lens. I believe in a holistic approach to well-being, where we tend to our mind, body and spirit.
I strive to create a collaborative space in which Individuals feel safe and comfortable to explore parts of themselves and their hopes and goals for positive change. I emphasize the importance of exploring your social location, meaning the parts of your identity such as gender, race, sexuality, religion, ethnicity and how they intersect creating both empowerment and oppression.
In order to best meet the needs of each individual, I utilize a variety of methods, such as narrative therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and more. Regardless of where you are on your journey, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.

The methodologies I would turn to in couples and family therapy may be Narrative approaches, Internal Family Systems and Attachment Theory. I encourage the use of mindfulness-based approaches when appropriate and when clients are open to it. I think it is a great way to reset, regulate and recharge.
I strive to create a collaborative space for couples and families to explore their concerns and work towards achieving healthier dynamics. I understands that relationships can face numerous hurdles, and I am here to support in developing and exploring communication skills, rebuilding trust, and navigating conflicts.
Relationship Therapy Centre provides Individual, Couple and Family therapy in Mississauga, as well as therapy in Burlington and Virtual Therapy (phone/video). We offer child therapy, and therapy for teens and adults.
